Visual issues increase with age. Some of the problems don’t last long but there are some serious eye problems as well that can lead to permanent vision loss.

Some common preventable eye problems are:

  1. Dry eyes: Dryness in the eyes is a very common eye discomfort. There are various causes of eye dryness like watery eyes, redness, light sensitivity, eye fatigue, scratchiness, blurry vision, etc. so protect your eyes from UV rays with sunglasses. Eyedrops are also used to prevent eye dryness.

  2.  Glaucoma: The optic nerve is very important for good vision. Glaucoma is a set of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve. Sometimes it can lead to blindness that cannot be reversed. Glaucoma is usually caused by diabetes, eye injuries, and lack of stretching of the body.

  3. Cataract: Cataract is a common eye condition especially seen in people around 50 or above years of age. In this condition, a blurry area develops on the eye and feels like looking through a cloudy window. But it can be easily cured by replacing the affected lens with an artificial lens.

Ways to keep eyes healthy:

You don’t have to rely on eye drops for redness or itching in the eyes. There are several other methods as well which can keep your eyes bright.

  1. Keep yourself hydrated. Like every organ of our body, our eyes also need water and healthy fluid to work effortlessly.

  2. If you work regularly in front of screens then you need to take little breaks in between. It will allow your eyes to rest and avoid unnecessary dryness, irritation, and tiredness in your eyes.

  3. Get enough sleep. You should allow your eyes to rest for at least 7 to 8 hours every day.

  4. The best way of curing your eye problem is to visit a doctor for better consultation.
